Nexus, we have a problem
Last month, Google finally issued the long-awaited Nexus One, the smartphone that started out as a myth in early 2009, with the geekworld speculating over the rumours. Frankly, the phone should’ve stayed a myth. With all the hype surrounding its launch, the HTC-built Nexus always had impossibly high expectations to meet, but with its pathetic features, it’s not like the phone actually tried...
The first of many disappointments is the lack of a multi-touchscreen. And while it has voice recognition, the user is expected to speak in slow, clearly pro-nun-cia-ted sentences, an awkward thing to do in public, or when you’re driving passed bored policemen. Of course, there is no objection to its sleek, Googlish design, plus the compatibility between the phone and Google’s applications. But that’s not good enough from the corporation that vows to “never be evil”.
