Wish list
There’s never anything better to unwrap during the holidays than lots of shiny gadgets
Issue: Dec, 2009
P5 headphones
Bowers and Wilkins
If you insist on walking around looking like you have Princess Leia buns, P5’s headphones, from the renowned speaker company Bowers and Wilkins, are definitely your best bet. These made-for-iPod set isolate you in your club beats with their closed-back design and leather earpads without relying on electronic noise cancellation.
9 Pctablet
Archos
Ever thought your mini netbook was too heavy? No, us neither. But Archos is preempting our laziness by introducing the netbook of the future. The Archos 9 PCtablet is only 1.7cm thick, weighs about 800gm and is capable of full HD, web browsing, video chat, and word processing. Not to mention a touchscreen that you won’t be able to keep your hands off of.
iPod Nano
Apple
No longer just a music player with solitaire, the new iPod comes with a built in video camera, a Genius personal DJ that creates mixes, FM radio with live pause, and even a pedometer to show how little exercise you’ve done while checking the games. Available in a rainbow array of unmanly colours but small enough to hide discreetly in your jeans pocket.
AirStream 10
Monitor Audio
While it may not look like something you’d want to find under the tree, the latest creation from the AirStream radio line makes up for its ugliness by giving you access to over 15,000 internet radio stations. And with global music services, access to music files on your home network and MP3 compatibility, this one is our favourite wish list item.
Titanium Mouse
Intelligent Design
The sharpest mouse you’ll come across anytime soon, this baby is crafted from grade one titanium and was “created for those who demand perfection at their fingertips”. We like it because it looks like a weapon (insert Danger Mouse joke here) and comes equipped with Bluetooth, lasertracking and white or black metal. And the price tag means the giver really, really likes you.
Omnia II
Samsung
Featuring an impressive 3.7" AMOLED touchscreen, 5MP camera, up to 16GB storage, and good video codec support, Samsung’s multimedia smartphone is pretty cool, but not awe-inspiring. At least until you see the ActionShot Panoramic Photography, which puts together multiple action shots into one panoramic photo. Absolutely brilliant.
