Was it really worth it?
To most intelligent human beings the idea of spending ridiculous amounts of money on New Year’s Eve could never be considered a wise judgment and yet it is something nearly everyone is guilty of doing.
Should you have been (un)lucky enough to celebrate the end of 2009 in Jordan, then without doubt you noticed the ludicrously high prices of the parties being held on that night, that offered no more than a few measly shots and an insanely small amount of food. What is curious is that no one was very bothered by these exorbitant prices until the day after, when the sobering up process began and the realisation that two sex-on-the-beach and a few mozzarella balls weren’t worth the 100JD you coughed up to attend.
Of course 2009 was considered by many to be the worst year ever and therefore its demise was cause for enthusiastic celebration. However, would it not make more sense if people were to reflect on the reasons for this tragic year and realize that maybe their poor financial judgments are what caused this to happen?
My advice (although I don't expect a lot of readers to have continued reading this far) is if you made the mistake of just paying without thinking, then it’s not too late to use your so-called brain and redeem yourself by using better judgment in future. Who knows? Maybe by the end of this year, you'll be thinking that 2010 was a good beginning to a better life.
